Working Up to Drama

I'm usually nervous when it comes to more dramatic makeup. I never really line my lower lash line or put mascara on my lower lashes. This is an example of a grey smokey eye I did before that is much more toned down. We were going out the other night and I decided to dramatize it a bit.

I used dark grey liquid liner, and dark grey eyeshadow over that to smudge it out. I put mascara on all my lashes. I was worried it would be too much, but I like it!

You can see the liner more in this photo. It is more defined on the outer corner of the eye.

Heres the outfit with the look. I love those tights lol.

Edit: I got my first really mean comments on my blog today. I was just letting you ladies know so that all the other comments made sense. I deleted the worst ones in attempt to remove the negativity.

  1. Megan, I think you look awesome. I love that dress! Apparently, the gutter troll who posted needs a lot of makeup on to feel pretty. And to her I say muzzle, invest.

  2. I think this is a really professional smokey eye look, I've been nervous to try a smokey eye to the office but you've DEFINATELY inspired me to try! Sometimes you just simply add small touches of color so you let your true beauty shine through, screaming "I wear eye makeup" to world is tacky. Most women want to just look naturally beautiful not like a circus performer or streetwalker. I love this look, soft and beautiful!

  3. Oh my goodness why are people being so rude about this. I LIKE your eye makeup, and I see no problem with calling it a toned down smokey eye. I know that for SOME people looking as unnatural as possible is the point of makeup, but it doesn't have to be and you should wear what you're comfortable with and call it whatever the hell you want.

And as for the spanx comment, THAT is why girls have eating disorders.

  4. Amen Jen. Megan, I'm sorry you had to deal with this person. Clearly someone is bored and has nothing better to do than go be cruel to random people.

  5. MakeupGRL...no matter WHAT you opinion is, didn't your mother say "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it at all"? Your comments were uncalled for even if you didn't like how Megan did her makeup. Fact is that its HER pretty face and if she is happy with the makeup, that's all that matters. And you said it yourself, its the internet and not that serious...so why are you as a supposed professional taking out frustrations on someone who isn't claiming to be one? If it's "not that serious" than you shouldn't have said your unwarranted comments at all. Think before you post, what you said is bullying.

  10. Thanks for all the nice comments ladies. I realize now the last pic looks like I'm not wearing much makeup because I forgot lipstick until we got in the car and you can't see my eye makeup the way I'm smiling. That's why I did close up for that, and the last one is more for the outfit.

  11. Yes Johanna I deleted your comment. Though it wasn't as bad as the other person's comment, it was still very rude. I think you could have easily gotten across the same point in a respectful manner.
