Gobble Gobble!!

Happy Thanksgiving! I couldn't post on Thanksgiving because I was out of state and busy with family, which I'm thankful for! Here is what I wore on my nails for Thanksgiving.
Two coats of China Glaze Adventure Red-y with one thin coat of Shimmer Trisha. I've been wanting to use this harvesty glitter again!

Adventure Red-y is darker and richer than true red, with a touch of brown. It does look pretty bright red like this a lot of the time too though.

I love how this glitter looks in the shade too!
We did a quick family picture together too! LtoR: Dad, Mum, BIL, Sister, Me, and my husband. Oh don't forget Rascal and Penny my niece and nephew :P.

It took me two and a half years of living far away to get homesick. I really miss my family and I'm so thankful for moments like this.

What did you do for Thanksgiving? We had a great meal, painted nails, visited my sister's barn, and played Taboo!

Yule Tidings!

Aahhh the Christmas season! There are so many holiday collections coming out. It's nice to see some that branch out a bit, like this Yule polish! Yule is the Pagan version of Christmas (from what I know). It's on Winter Solstice (December 21st) and celebrates the sun coming back after the longest night of the year. Lots of things that are symbols in Christmas (holly, mistletoe, ivy, pine boughs, Wassail, egg nog, etc) are common to Yule. So here is SoFlaJo Yule Tidings from her Party Time collection!

This is a lovely olive green polish with shimmer, small red and green glitters, and large silver holo hexes. It went on great with two coats! I love the olive green color and the base filled with shimmer. That's what makes it unique for me.

Mmm look at all that gold shimmer! This is a really pretty polish!! I love how the base is just sheer enough to add depth when you do more than one coat. I'm sure you'd get even more depth with three coats, but two was enough for opacity.
Her polishes are $10 for a regular size, and $5 for a mini.
Check her out on Facebook, oogle at the polishes in her store, and she also has an Etsy shop!

Like her polishes? She's having a Cyber Monday sale on her website (Etsy not included)! You'll get free shipping with ant order that's $20 or over, both US and international!!

This was provided to me for my unbiased review.

Wintry Friend

I joined a nail art contest that is going on for about a month at Nail Polish Canada. This week's theme is snow!!
Please vote for me here if you like my design!! :D

I love birds. They're my favorite animal. And cardinals look so beautiful against the stark white snow. I tried to portray a soft Winter day with light snow falling and a cardinal nestled in the snowy branches.

Here is my birdie up close.

I used three coats of Essie Barefoot in Blue for the sky. The cardinal is mostly China Glaze Adventure Red-y,with highlights of OPI Paint My Mojitoes Red, and some black. The beak is China Glaze Peachy Keen. The branches are China Glaze Call of the Wild, with some Barielle Stardust snow falling.

I can't wait to see a cardinal in the snow this Winter. I hope we GET snow!

I hope you all have happy holidays! I'm loving the holiday season!

Please vote for me here in the nail art contest if you like my design!! :D

Thank You for Your Service

Happy Veterans Day!
(Yea yea, I know I missed Veterans day. I had a super horrific break in my nail and had to fix it, but I was wearing my super limited edition Lynderella Remember, so I couldn't bear to take it off! Better late than never I say.)
I have been wanting to do some french tips lately, so I did some Patriotic ones :).
I used Zoya Elisa for the tips, Zoya Song for the line, and a no name cheapie (maybe an old Bonnebell?) red/blue/silver bar glitter on the line as well.

I tried Zoya Sari, a pink french color, on the thumb to see how it would look. I hated it, so I just used topcoat on the rest. I think my nails still look nice, except for all those bubbles! I guess I was too lazy to reach for the thinner. I pretty much always get bubbles around rhinestones like this though.

My husband is in the Navy. Although it's difficult as a military spouse, I am so very proud of him. No matter how many times people thank him for his service, it never gets old. Ever. Ever. Ever.
So to all those who have served in the military or serve now....to those that have lost a loved one to this everlasting battle....to those that stay behind and hold down the fort...
THANK YOU
Thank you for your sacrifice.

NerdLacquer Returns!

Amanda from Nerdlacquer has returned to the polish world after disappearing for about 8 months! It's true; it's official. How do I know? She posted about it on her Google+ page here.

The short?
Her mother had cancer for quite some time. Amanda moved in to help her mother. Her mother sadly died after a long and painful decline. Obviously she took it very hard...who wouldn't? She just needed some time away from the world.

The long?
I'm excited for her new collection and how sentimental it will be. I can't wait to see what she comes up with! The only one I have right now is Antisocial Media.

I'm also incredibly sad for her. I have lost my father, but it was under very different circumstances. I can't even imagine losing my mother. Ever. I don't care if everyone's mother dies. I'm fine with being in denial forever. My step-dad has cancer right now, and it recently recurred...so I do understand the pain of watching a loved suffer. I just....I can't fathom her pain.
So many people are stuck on whether or not she's going to compensate the people who purchased polishes that never got shipped to them because of her abrupt hiatus. Yes, this is a big deal, and it matters. However, I have no doubt that she will make things right with her customers. She shouldn't be expected to include that information in her first post back where she's pouring her heart out about her mother and her pain. Give the woman some time. Perhaps she wants to deal with that privately as well, and come to an agreement on a case by case basis. It just saddens me that that's the first thing so many people think of.

I'm sorry Amanda. I hope you find peace and are able to continue with your life the way that you want.
Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there; I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow,
I am the sun on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circling flight.
I am the soft star-shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
(Do Not Stand at My Grave and Weep by Mary Frye)

She will never die, as she lives on in your heart.

I Voted!

Today is Election Day in the USA! Did you vote? I did! I have never gotten a chance to do an Election Day mani.
 I love my sticker :P!

Figured it would be a great time to use my Lynderella Remember for the first time. I've been saving it for a special occasion. This is two coats of Remember over Zoya Dove.

I am SO excited and overjoyed to own this polish. It is one of 9 bottles that are out right now, so it's about as limited edition as it gets. It was made for Memorial Day, so it's very close to my heart because my husband is in the military.

Lynderella Remember is a light gray jelly polish packed with patriotic glitter! It has large squares in red/blue, large white hexes, large whiteish silver holo stars, white bar glitter, light pink bar glitter, medium squares in red/blue/white/teal/light pink/dark pink, medium hexes in teal/blue/white, small hexes in red/dark pink/white, microglitter in white/red/blue/dark pink, and pearly white and multi-colored shimmer.
The white glitters are an almost iridescent matte finish. This is SO much more than a red, white, and blue polish!

And a closeup! I couldn't take pictures in the sunlight so you can't really see all the shimmer here, but it's there!

Did you vote!? Let your voice be heard!
Thank you again for this gorgeous polish Lynn <3

Polish Progress Timeline

Lots of people have been posting sort of a timeline of their nails, so I thought I'd join in.

I dated them from January 2011 (close to when I started blogging) to October 2012 over a year and a half later. The different between the first and last are VAST! I didn't even know what clean up was when I first started lol. Then I slowly progressed to a more square shape, yet still didn't care about things like my nails being even. I do think the last two a pretty similar though. Oh the things we learn as we go!
Someone mentioned she noticed her nail beds getting longer with regular cuticle care in her polish timeline. I can't really tell because of course my nails themselves have grown.
What do you think?
Feel free to post your polish progress timelines below!!

The Chop!

So I've had super long hair for a good while now. I told my husband I was going to cut it off while he was on deployment so it would be like a big makeover! He said "NNnooo!!" Lol! So I kept it for ages...Each time I felt like cutting it I'd ask him "is it time yet?" He always said no. Finally I decided it was time anyway. I kept it for Halloween, then just got it cut yesterday!

SO I wanted to see how much my hair grew in all this time, and compare some pics. I made a fun collage of the last 2+ years.
And just for fun, a little breakdown of the pictures:
May 2010 - This was maybe a month after we started dating
November 2010 - We were madly in love, AND it was my first super red lipstick ever.
April 2011 - Jeremy missed my birthday (actually May 4th) while he was on deployment, so my friends threw a party for me and got me a cake!
June 2011 - I got a trim and bangs for the first time since I was 11. They looked great if only my hair stayed straight.
November 2011 - Our engagement pictures :D
May 2012 - My graduation!
October 2012 - A length picture to see how long it was before I cut it
November 2012 - Right after I got it cut!

It got pretty freaking long! We measured it when I got my hair cut and I want to say 32 inches. I could never waste all that hair, so I donated it.
This looks so weird, like a tiny horse tail lol!

It was so interesting to see how my hair went from mostly straight to pretty seriously wavy. I almost never style it, so that's all natural and I have no idea how it happened! I can't wait to wash it again and see if it gets wavy. I also lost 20 pounds since that first picture. I don't think it shows yet, but it still feels good!

What's your hair journey been like lately? :)

Updated Blog Sale!

I revamped my blog sale, updated it, and added a ton of stuff! I need to get rid of all this polish. I have a shoe box full to sell! I added polish,  makeup, lotion, brushes, all sorts of things!

I'm trying to make room in my stash since I'm filling up for the 5th time, so I'd rather sell most of it. I am definitely interested in really unique/htf/interesting polishes though. I also like things like jewelry, makeup, home decor, etc. So hit me up if you want to swap something fun or make me an offer on something!

You're a Witch!!

Happy Halloween!! I was too busy last night to post my Halloween mani :P. I was feeling something witchy.
Creepy trees, a pumpkin, and a flying witch!

I must say my right hand looks better, go figure!

I tried to double stamp the pumpkins with white then orange, but even that didn't show up. I just did the white first and painted over it carefully as a guideline.

I used Borghese Purple Confetti for the base, topped with Girly Bits Purple Potion (witch appropriate huh?) for some extra sparkle. I did gradient tips with Butter London Black Knight. The yellow is China Glaze Sunshine Pop with a little white swirled in for a cool moon. The orange is China Glaze Candy Corn. I added a coat of Lynderella When the Moon Was a Star to make a fun night sky behind my haunted house on my thumb.

Borghese Purple Confetti surprised me so much with the mostly matte finish! Yea, it's a little gritty because of the glitter, but it was still a cool surprise!

Here's what I wore for Halloween! I'm Pocahontas...or her albino cousin...

I hung out with my friend Brittany, who dressed as a super cute witch. One of the kids came up to the door and said "YOU'RE A WITCH!" Lol! Well yea!

 NOM  NOM Milk duds!!!

What did you dress up as for Halloween? Link a picture in the comments!!
